Birth of Sree Swaminatha Seva Samaj and The Early Efforts
Dr. B. Gopala Reddy was the then Union Minister of Works, Housing and Supply in the Council of Ministers. With the background course of events and the archaeological evidence, with its historicity, placed before him, the Honourable Minister was good enough to allot the mound and the surrounding area to the initial devotee promoters, for a consideration of Rs.25,000/- on the condition that they formed themselves into a Registered Society.

This intial endowment gave a tremendours fillip to the poineering efforts of the budding Samaj. Lifting of Stone For Sculpturing the Idol of Lord Swaminatha Swami
For sculpturing the sacred idol of Lord Swaminatha Swami, His Holiness Paramacharyal and His Holiness Sri-La-Sri Arul Nandi Tambiran Swamigal of Sri Kasi Mutt advised the Samaj to lift stones from the bed of the Tamraparni river, flowing through Tirunelveli, at a place called Kuruk kuthurai- a bathing ghat.

Silpa Kala Shastras categories stones fit for sculpturing the sacred idols of temples into three kinds :- (a) masculine ,(b) feminine and (c) neutral. Masculine and feminine varities of rocks are considered fit for sculpturing Vigrahas of Gods and Goddesses and the neutral stones are not to be used for such purpose.

Progress of Sculpturing Work of the Vigrahas and Pillars and Their Transportation to Delhi
As had been said earlier, the workshop established at Walajabad (between Arkonam and Katpadi), for sculpturing the stones was making good progress. It was possible because the stone quarry at Pattumalai Kuppam was only four kilometers away from Walajabad. By the end of 1969, about 900 fully and semi sculptured and carved items were ready for despatch to Delhi.

Visit of his Holiness Sankarcharya of the Sringeri Mutt
In the year 1970, His Holiness Jagatguru Abhinava Vidya Teetha Bharati Sankarcharya Swamigal of the Sringeri Mutt paid a visit to the temple complex. Contruction work was in progress at the site, along with sculptural and general mansory and other works. His holiness was much impressed with the progress.

The second Agamic ritual after the Silanysam is Garbhanyasam to be performed at the level of the sanctum sanctorum. A metel box containing 25 compartments in which various herbs, diamonds, precious minerals varieties are propitiated as the Garbha embryo of the Diety to be installed.
